Project 82 Kenya is a group of Christians from Kenya and the United States working together with a common heart for orphans and vulnerable children. This month's Wine or Whine is Feb. 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Plaza. | 7 | 8 8:30 North Cobb: Volunteer: Black History Bowl Competition Kennesaw Parks and Recreation's Black History Bowl is a fun, competitive and educational event for middle school aged teens. This year we are anticipating thirty-two teams to compete in the opening round on January 18th, 2025, Sweet 16 round on January 25, and the Championship series being held on February 8 at the Ben Robertson Community Center in Kennesaw, GA. Teams from various schools, youth organizations, and churches will compete by answering a variety of black history-related questions in science, the arts, education, sports, entertainment, civil rights, politics and more in a fast-paced game show style format. The Bowl seeks to raise and deepen the awareness, while honoring the vital role played by African Americans in the rich history of our country. Charter Member and long-serving Club Administrator Cecil
"Teak" Pacetti passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the age of
84. Teak was a member of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs before moving to the
Rotary Club of Dunwoody on April 25, 1984. He was an Attorney and a CPA, and
spent many years helping with set-up, greeting members and guests at the door,
maintaining our records, filing taxes, and participating in as many service and
social functions as he could.
Teak's memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8 at 10:30 am in the sanctuary of Northside Drive Baptist Church, 3100 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30305 with a reception in the Fellowship Hall to follow. Please consider joining friends and family as we bid farewell.

• Fork to the right and turn left into the Visitor Parking Deck. | 12 9 Roswell: Building a Playhouse In collaboration with Roswell Highschool and Roswell Rotarian a play house will be built. Our members with work with students at Roswell High School in the design and building of a Playhouse. Ken Briggs and Darrell Bartlett were key in coordinating this event. 6:30p North Cobb: Volunteer: Women's Extension Dinner Volunteers needed to bring sides for 30 people, serve dinner, and cleanup. The Extension is a faith based, 12 step, recovery program for both men and women. The residential program has Marietta facilities on Church St. Extension for the men and Holiday St. for women. North Cobb Rotary has provided dinner on a monthly basis for going on 15 years. It is a chance to get to know your fellow members in service as well as provide some encouragement for the men and women in recovery. Residents are required to gain employment during their residence and they receive counseling, job preparation and life skills in addition to the recovery process. This is an opportunity to get to know your members and be an encourager to these residents as they transform their lives.

Anyone under the age of 18 must have a guardian sign the form. Anyone under the age of 18 must have an adult with them while volunteering. No one under the age of 12 can volunteer. Projects We will be helping with property maintenance tasks outside and in the barn. These projects may include but are not limited to cleaning feed and water buckets, washing the truck and trailer, clearing leaves, washing arena fences, clearing the riding trail, oiling tack, picking up litter, small landscape projects, sanitizing toys, organizing the educational space, etc. What to Bring You must wear closed-toe shoes. Dress for the weather in clothes that can get dirty. We do not allow open umbrellas on the property, so please wear rain jackets if necessary. Bring a water bottle, snack, and work gloves. We will have a room where you can store belongings, but we do not have secure storage. Directions Chastain Horse Park: 4371 Powers Ferry Rd., Atlanta, GA 30327 It's easiest to park in the "red lot" near the amphitheater and walk past the large covered arena. If you plug this address into GPS it brings you to the clubhouse—don't turn in there—the next parking lot/driveway north on Powers Ferry is the Red Lot. You will see signage for the therapeutic program and see the roof of the big, covered arena. Do not leave valuables in the car. Please call 256-749-3983 to reach our staff on the day of volunteering. When entering the barn, please do not pet the horses on the face and be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate barn wear for weather conditions. | 22 8:30 Thomasville: Produce Distribution at Weston Park Rotary will host its monthly produce distribution at Weston Park. Set up begins at 7:30 a.m. Food distribution begins at or before 8:30 a.m. and is finished when all the produce is distributed, usually around 10 a.m. This is one of our local Rotary Club's Big Impact Projects to help make fresh vegetables and fruits available to all. We partner with the Marguerite Neel Williams Boys & Girls Club, Envision Credit Union and Thomasville National Bank to sponsor these monthly events, but we need Rotarians to volunteer their time to help with the distributions. |
